apple addresses webkit vulnerability

Apple rushed out iOS 18.3.2 on March 11, 2025, tackling yet another critical WebKit vulnerability. Users with iPhone XS and newer models should grab this update immediately. It’s not like cybercriminals are waiting patiently for you to secure your device.

Act now. Apple’s iOS 18.3.2 patch fixes a critical WebKit flaw that hackers aren’t waiting for you to address.

The update addresses CVE-2025-24201, a nasty out-of-bounds write issue in WebKit that allows malicious web content to break out of the sandbox. In plain English? Bad websites could run whatever code they want on your precious iPhone. Great.

This particular flaw was already being exploited in the wild through “sophisticated targeted attacks” – tech speak for “someone important got hacked.”

This marks Apple’s third zero-day patch in 2025, following six in 2024. Progress, considering they tackled a whopping 20 in 2023. The vulnerability actually affects a wide range of Apple products, not just iPhones. iPads, Macs running macOS Sequoia, Vision Pro headsets, and even Apple TV models needed this fix.

Apple didn’t stop with iOS. They simultaneously pushed out iPadOS 18.3.2, macOS Sequoia 15.3.2, visionOS 2.3.2, and tvOS 18.3.1. Even older Macs got some love with Safari 18.3.1 updates. The company’s getting better at synchronized security fixes.

Interestingly, this update is a supplementary fix for an attack previously blocked in iOS 17.2. Seems the initial patch needed some patching of its own. Awkward.

Beyond the security stuff, the update fixes some annoying bugs too. Users reported streaming content problems, micro stutters, and general laggy behavior on some devices. Those issues should be history now. This update also aims to resolve the increased System Data usage that many users complained about after previous installations. Users are also reporting smoother animations when navigating between apps after installing the update.

Installing is simple – just head to Settings > General > Software Update. Make sure you’re plugged in or have sufficient battery. And for heaven’s sake, back up your device first. Nobody wants to lose their vacation photos because an update went sideways.

No new features this time around. Just fixes. Security updates aren’t glamorous, but they’re necessary. Update your device already.
